- 1 c oats
- 1 c water
- 1 1/2 c milk
- 2 T butter
- 1/3 c brown sugar
- 2 packets yeast
- 2 t salt
- whole wheat flour-about 4 1/2 cups
Heat the water and milk until boiling. Add to the oats. Allow to cool until warm (not hot), then add to the yeast and sugar. Allow to sit for about 5 minutes. Add butter, and begin to add flour, 1 c at a time. Add salt. When no more flour will mix, begin to kneed. When well kneeded put into an oiled bowl to rise for about 1 hour, until doubled. Shape into loaves, and allow to rise until doubled, about 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375. Brush tops of loaves with water and sprinkle with oats. Bake for about 40 minutes, until bread sounds hollow when tapped.

Oh this looks good!
